We have published CheerLights Terminal, a command-line app that shows the current CheerLights color in your terminal. It reads the color from the CheerLights API and draws a large ASCII art CheerLights logo in that color, with a link to the CheerLights Discord below it.

What You Need
- Python 3.13 or newer
- uv, the Python package and project manager
- Windows, macOS, or Linux
Run CheerLights Terminal
Clone the repo, install the dependencies, and run the app:
git clone https://github.com/cheerlights/cheerlights-terminal.git
cd cheerlights-terminal
uv sync
uv run cheerlights
The logo and its border take on the current CheerLights color. Pick a new color on the CheerLights Discord, run the app again, and the logo changes to match.
How It Works
The app gets the color with the CheerLights Python package (cheerlights-api), matches the color name to a terminal color, and draws the panels with Rich. If it cannot reach the API, it prints the error and shows the logo in white. The whole app is a few short Python files, so it makes a good starting point for your own CheerLights client.
