CheerLights MCP Server 2.0: Color History, Statistics, and Search

Posted on September 12, 2025 By Hans Scharler No Comments on CheerLights MCP Server 2.0: Color History, Statistics, and Search

We rewrote the CheerLights MCP server. The first version, from March, could read the current color and the recent history. With version 2.0, Claude and other AI assistants can:

CheerLights logo above the Model Context Protocol logo and 2.0
  • Get the current color, or up to 100 recent color changes
  • Count how often each color was picked and find the most and least popular colors
  • Search the history for a specific color
  • Look up the HEX and RGB values for any CheerLights color

It also offers resources, context the assistant can read (the current color, the history, and the list of supported colors), and prompt templates for trend analysis and color reports.

Run CheerLights MCP Server 2.0

Clone the cheerlights-mcp repo and run it with uv run cheerlights-mcp. The README has the Claude Desktop configuration.
